A Rainy Day at Home with the Jamesons
The Jameson family’s film family session in Houston Texas did not go according to any plan and it was perfect because of it. Rain, a water table, a piano in the living room, and a family who knew exactly how to spend a good day at home. That is the session we showed up for and that is exactly what analog film was made to document.
Rain changes a home session completely. It seals everyone inside and creates this specific kind of afternoon that only happens when the weather makes the decision for you. Slower. Warmer. More itself.
The Water Table
The kids were at the water table before we had the camera up. Houston rain coming down outside and two kids completely unbothered, playing in the water like the weather was doing them a favor. It was. Those frames are some of our favorites from the whole session.
The Piano
Then someone sat down at the piano and the whole mood shifted. Music in a home does something to the light in a room. It pulls everyone toward it. On analog film that moment, the gathering around an instrument in the middle of an ordinary rainy afternoon, looks like something worth keeping forever.
Real Life on Real Film
The Jameson family did not perform for the camera. They just lived their Saturday and let us follow along with a roll of film. That is always the brief and the Jamesons understood it completely.
