In the Yard
We started outside and the kids took over immediately. Running, chasing, doing what five kids do when you open a backyard and step back. The Dallas afternoon light came in warm and the film held all of it. Loud and bright and completely alive.
Telephone on the Couch
Then we moved inside and played telephone. Five kids passing a whispered message down the couch, each one dissolving into giggles before it even got to the next person. The parents watched from the side trying to keep it together. Nobody did. Those frames are everything.
Popsicles on the Front Porch
We ended on the front porch with popsicles and that specific kind of tired happy that only happens after a good afternoon outside with your whole family. Sticky hands and melting colors and five kids who had completely forgotten there was ever a camera there. That is the whole goal and the Bowers gave it to us without even trying.
