Maddie and Mason’s 16mm wedding film in Austin Texas is one of those days you do not forget. High school sweethearts who chose each other young and never stopped. By the time they stood inside a vintage downtown Austin church and said their vows in front of everyone who had watched them grow up together, the whole room already knew this was always how it was going to go.
We shot the entire day on 16mm film and VHS. The ceremony was everything a downtown Austin church should be. High ceilings, warm light, and the kind of quiet reverence that only lasts a few minutes before the people who love you most start crying in the front row. From there the night moved to ATX Cocina where it turned into exactly what Maddie and Mason are. Loud and warm and full. Dancing with their families, messages from the people who have known them the longest, and a celebration that did not slow down until it had to.
The VHS captured what 16mm could not chase. The candid moments between dances, the words shouted across tables, the grandfather watching from the side of the room. On VHS those seconds look the way memory feels. Soft and warm and real. Together the two formats built a wedding film that belongs to this couple completely.
