I am so excited to share this Family Day session from San Francisco.
When the Goodwin family reached out about taking family photos in their home, I was over the moon. Three beautiful wild-haired girls zipping around the house.. sign me up! As a San Francisco family photographer who specializes in lifestyle and documentary family photography on film, I love when I get to capture families right where life happens most: at home.
There is something so special about watching a family unwind in front of my camera during a Family Day session. We started with watercolors and gathering eggs from the chicken coop. After hanging around the house we headed to their favorite hiking trail at Mount Diablo. These are the kinds of real, unhurried moments that make film family photography so meaningful.
I even carried one of the girls, Violet, on my back and got mud all over my jeans. Truly one of the funniest moments I have had with a family. Violet promised me some pennies for my jeans when we got back to the house. I never got the pennies, but I did get a deep appreciation for the Goodwin family and their openness in inviting me into their home.
The Family Day session is two and a half hours of real life. No rush, no schedule, I am simply along for the ride. I shoot on 35mm film, and that process is so fun to share with kids as they look through the viewfinder and see the world a little differently.
I hope to be back in San Francisco and the Bay Area often. If you are looking for a San Francisco film family photographer who captures real moments in a warm and timeless way, I would love to document your family’s next chapter.
